Review: Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt Season 3 Episode 11 “Kimmy Googles the Internet!”

Another stellar episode in terms of character development, both Titus and Jimmy discover that ultimately trying to force change is meaningless and one needs to let go of their insecurities and tensions to be themselves. It also helps this was one of the funniest episodes the show has produced, with spectacular performances and an array … Continue reading Review: Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt Season 3 Episode 11 “Kimmy Googles the Internet!”

Verdict: Scream Queens Season 2 Episode 5 “Chanel Pour Homme-icide”

Light on humour and horror, this is a necessary but mediocre episode of 'Scream Queens' that takes a break from shocks and twists to set up the show's future. While Chanel's hiring of potential Chanels is as entertaining for the audience as it is for Chanel, the other plot lines didn't have the same impact, … Continue reading Verdict: Scream Queens Season 2 Episode 5 “Chanel Pour Homme-icide”

Verdict: Easy Season 1 Episode 6 “Utopia”

Though the episode certainly lacks depth and substitutes character exploration for sex, there is definitely a lightness to this episode that makes it fun. Seeing a couple with a child  be happy and not troubled is a nice change on television, while the episode's examination of how technology contributes to relationships and their formation in contemporary … Continue reading Verdict: Easy Season 1 Episode 6 “Utopia”

Verdict: Scream Queens Season 2 Episode 2 “Warts and All”

Though the show could be doing a little more to highlight the setting's creepiness and overall atmosphere, this is the series best example of balancing comedy and horror and incorporating both together. Not only are there a number of scary and gross out moments, but the comedy in each is actually funny, providing some great … Continue reading Verdict: Scream Queens Season 2 Episode 2 “Warts and All”

Verdict: Easy Season 1 Episode 5 “Art and Life”

Using relationships more as a backdrop than in previous episodes, 'Art and Life' provided a serious discussion on a range of issues from privacy to technology to consumerism to generational difference, each well explored and written. Though it may lack any comedic punch and it would have been nice to have been given a greater … Continue reading Verdict: Easy Season 1 Episode 5 “Art and Life”

Verdict: Easy Season 1 Episode 4 “Controlada”

While its central message is not as striking as previous episodes, this entry of Easy does have stunning direction that beautifully choreograph the interactions between the three main characters and the contrast between each. Though this isn't an original premise and the episode at times dawdle along, the acting and writing is still inviting enough. 7.2/10

Verdict: Scream Queens Season 2 Episode 1 “Scream Again”

Though the direction is choppy, 'Scream Queens' does find some success in parodying hospital dramas with great production design, costuming and acting. With the new characters not yet clicking or as interesting as some of those already established, the show flourishes when it focusses upon the Chanel's and their tribulations. However, a lack of horror … Continue reading Verdict: Scream Queens Season 2 Episode 1 “Scream Again”
