Review: Star Trek: Discovery Season 1 Episode 11 “The Wolf Inside”

Arguably boasting some of the series’ best direction, this is a beautifully shot episode that creates expansiveness and divide with the cinematography’s harnessing of light and dark. Key to the episode’s thematic and character core is the contrast between Burnham trying to mute her good will and ethical decision-making, and Tyler trying to tackle his alter-personality. The story places both characters in interesting positions for these developments, while also allowing for a focus on their relationship. However, the episode does become eventually too heavily geared towards Tyler’s predicament again, while also never truly confronting more serious questions of what Burnham will do to save her crew. 7.6/10
