Review: The Punisher Season 1 Episode 10 “Virtue of the Vicious”

Due to the poor resolution to Lewis’ story and a minimal amount of consequential character development, this episode feels like an unnecessary sidetrack to the larger narrative, utilising a time jumping structure for no apparent reason. Initially, the structure seemed to be highlighting a difference in perspective, centred around contrasting views of the role of guns. While this was thematically suitable, the notion was quickly dropped for generic action and resultingly the structure becomes pointless. There are also several plot holes here which undermine the Police and Anvil, as well as the writers, with other contrived circumstances diluting tension. Seeing Karen and Frank’s relationship continue to blossom, along with Madani’s confrontation with Russo, are the episode’s only real saving graces. Ultimately, it ends up way more convoluted than it ever needed to be. 5.9/10
