Review: Star Trek: Discovery Season 1 Episode 8 “Si Vis Pacem, Para Bellum”

With a stunning change in scenery that provides plenty of gorgeous special effects, ‘Star Trek: Discovery’ allowed itself another opportunity to discuss diversity and perspective in conflict. This thematic consistency, as well as how the episodic story contributes to serial narrative, shows a clear grip by the show’s writers. The actual main story is however, slightly convoluted and predictable, but gives Michael and Tyler a chance to continue to connect. The subplots, though, insist to break tension by popping up at random intervals and do not provide much to the overall narrative. Furthermore, the Klingon story has always been the show’s weakest, and while it takes an interesting turn here, not much really develops in conclusion. 7.7/10
