Review: Designated Survivor Season 2 Episode 4 “Equilibrium”

‘Designated Survivor’ continues to transition from a serious action-drama set within a political context, to a witty situational piece that stresses social issues with a few random, ridiculous conspiracies on the side. While it has struggled in previous weeks, for the most part this episode nails it. The dialogue springs from scene to scene, while the characters are fresh, dynamic and not weighed down by petty competition or trying to sustain some moral high ground. It may suffer from its still radical change from the conspiracy that gave the show purpose, and Hannah’s story still seems like a necessary afterthought. But with an appropriately complex and multi-dimensional case of the week, the show can definitely move past it. 9/10
