Review: Fear The Walking Dead Season 3 Episode 14 “El Matadero”

While this is certainly a transitional episode, setting up future conflict with Strand’s side-plans and giving us insight into Alicia’s greater mind-set, the slow pace and lack of anything especially compelling makes it a difficult watch. Nick’s plot frustratingly is representative of the character’s typical fall-back, while the fate of one character seems to be more a tension builder than an organic plot development. It’s unfortunate that ‘Fear The Walking Dead’ finds itself with these sort of episode every so-often, unable to sustain its brilliance when not in the immediate aftermath of destruction. The show works best when showcasing effect and implications upon relationship dynamics, not in bringing up new narrative. 6.9/10
