Review: Preacher Season 2 Episode 11 “Backdoors”

The quest to find God continues in this week’s episode, but structurally it lacks the momentum to be exciting, or the teases to be gripping. This is reflective of ‘Preacher’ in general, where nearly all of the major storylines are founded upon an ambiguous motive that is never explored amongst the characters or carefully explained for the audience. It does create some sense of mystery, but one that lacks tension and doesn’t have the audience sitting on the edge of their seats. Eugene’s story in Hell also suffers from this, but furthermore, his narrative lacks the clever humour and dynamic, odd-ball characters Jesse finds himself with. 6.4/10
