Review: Ozark Season 1 Episode 6 “Book of Ruth”

As multiple storylines converge the various threats against the Byrde family begin to stack up resulting in exciting and tense confrontations, well written and brilliantly performed. These also have ripple effects, with the writers keenly highlighting the implications one man can have on the entire town, exemplified by the excellent dynamic created between Ruth and her family. Unfortunately, Ruth’s move this week seems rather random, as does Roy’s convenient and contrived plan that comes together way too nicely. It undermines the realism and suspense the show hopes to exude, with its central villains and their monologue and sense of threat rather clichéd. 7.5/10
