Review: Fear The Walking Dead Season 3 Episode 5 “Burning In Water, Drowning In Flame”

Our individual passions may ultimately come to define us; a sentiment interestingly raised across stories, with Jake’s artistry and poetry, Jeremiah’s craftsmanship and Troy’s numeric, statistical view of the world. The discussion these ideas revolve around is never fully completed and works more for enforcing character traits, motivations and outlooks than thematic notions, but they work wonders for future grounding these characters. This episode is also arguably the show’s most beautiful, with elegant cinematography, engrossing locations, and a general sense of understanding from the director that our environments are also central to who we, shown with the burnt cabin, the lake and the mountain ranges. The pace is slower than previous entries, but for setting up changing relationships, it works well. 9.3/10
