Review: Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt Season 3 Episode 5 “Kimmy Steps on a Crack!”

Although I appreciate the continue balance between serial drama and episodic comedy, with this episode providing a brilliant mix of the two with Titus’ need for vitamins leading Lillian to gain a differing view on the grocery store debate, for the most part this episode felt unnecessary. Kimmy’s storyline makes obvious connections to the wider story, but it felt like a forced intrusion into a world we didn’t really need to see. I feel this show has certainly milked her fellow kidnapper women of everything they have got and I hope this is the last we see of them for a while. Its message about females in power is welcomed, but it becomes confused and never truly gets a potent point across, resorting to comedy to get out of sticky situations. Additionally, while I like Jacqueline thinking by herself, attempting to outwit the Snyder’s, it also felt like an interlude or filler, so hopefully something more consequential is to come. 7.2/10
