Review: Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt Season 3 Episode 2 “Kimmy’s Roommate Lemonades!”

This episode delicately handles the theme of decisions, noting the complexities surrounding both empowering yourself and appeasing others. For Kimmy that is a decision fuelled by her wish to have control over her life, deciding the best route for future development and who one sides with in the case of Buridan’s Ass. Yet, while Kimmy’s storyline is great for her as a character, albeit slow, this is Tituss Burgess’ episode. His performance is extraordinary, from his ‘Lemonade’ scenes to his dynamic with Mikey. Burgess nails his character’s emotional isolation and inability to often express what he means in a traditional manner. Hopefully the relationship storyline won’t drag on, and this will allow Titus to progress, but this was a demanding, compelling episode for the character. 9/10
