Review: Riverdale Season 1 Episode 13 “Chapter Thirteen: The Sweet Hereafter”

Throughout this series my frustration has mostly come from its inconsistent focus upon the murder case, darting off to relatively insignificant events, that while important for character, felt like the narrative was stalling. However, with this episode ‘Riverdale’ successfully transitioned past the murder mystery while still keeping its effect potent and devastating. While some of the developments were predictable, the concept of how a town moves past events and the way something so horrendous can influence a collection of society is well examined, again taking stereotypes and fleshing them out instead of relying upon them for thematic advantage. This is a thrilling episode that will certainly make people come back for another dose of a superb soap opera. 9/10
