Review: Sense8 Season 2 Episode 3 “Obligate Mutualisms”

Though one may argue ‘Sense8’ continues to place a greater emphasis on the creation of emotion and social commentary than it does on its wider narrative, which does feel formulaically positioned and staged within this episode, the balance with individual plots is more in tune. Providing some form of narrative push to Sun especially, this episode keeps a connection between these smaller stories and the wider mythology while revealing more and more about the show’s central figures. Layered against a metaphor of coming out, an impression of lightness and liberty and the slow sinking feeling of limitation, ‘Sense8’ will need to push harder against any sort of formula to truly become special. 8.4/10
