Review: Riverdale Season 1 Episode 10 “The Lost Weekend”

This is an extremely character focussed episode, peeling back the layers and providing an honest portrayal of each. Archie’s own motivations are flawed, forgetting his loyalty to Jughead and essentially only looking out for himself. While his relationship with Jughead is slightly all over the place, this is an accurate representation of the character and his lack of willpower and intelligence that continually puts him the back seat. However, it does present Cole Sprouse with exceptional material to provide an emotional performance, supported by F.P’s humanising actions and the sense of pressure bearing down on the character. There is a lot of exposition here, but the overall character dynamics it creates makes the overuse of teen soap tropes bearable, and slightly enjoyable. 8.9/10
