Review: Shadowhunters Season 2 Episode 2 “A Door Into The Dark”

Though ‘Shadowhunters’ continues to deepen its mythology and at least provide more screen time to its characters, this episode felt like a step backwards for the series as it resorted to generic dialogue and inconsequential character development. A lot of what occurred throughout this episode felt sensationalised for drama and tension, with divides in relationships being emphasised and then suddenly forgotten. The plot also surprisingly became slightly convoluted due to the many different story threads, many of which seem contrived and without a specific arc. This wasn’t helped by direction that lacked fluidity between sequences, and continuously poor, and forced, acting. 5.5/10
