Review: Designated Survivor Season 1 Episode 8 “The Results”

‘Designated Survivor’ once again uses what is becoming a predictable, and somewhat boring, formula, where the case of the week challenges the President’s ability and morality before leading to an uplifting or at least affecting result. This structure excelled initially in examining the character’s views and skills but has become repetitive and of little consequence, as all of his challenges end in similar developments. Leo’s storyline also lacks consequence and seems like dramatic filler than having any serious implications, while the overarching mystery does move forward, but slower than usual and with little impact. Still, the show’s increasing political focus is appreciated and is tied nicely in with MacLeish. It would just be nice to see an episode that doesn’t rely on what is becoming this show’s typical set up. 7.5/10
