Verdict: Scream Queens Season 2 Episode 4 “Halloween Blues”

A sensational episode of humour, shock and horror, ‘Scream Queens’ proved it is the comeback series of the year by delivering on its promise of death and comedy, cleverly weaved together. The writing episode was magnificent, making sure all the characters remained relevant to the plot (though Kirstie Alley’s continued absence is suspicious), while making sure their relationships and development were consistent and did not suffer at the hands of the narrative that is evolving possibly too quickly and relentlessly. However, the real stand out of this episode was the direction, that brought the Halloween party to life in an entertaining way while still creating tension. The horror film parodies and references (particularly the flashbacks with Chad and Denise) were also nicely crafted making this was the show’s strongest episode to date. 9.6/10
