Verdict: Luke Cage Season 1 Episode 11 “Now You’re Mine”

The weakest episode of the season so far as while bringing the main characters together in one centralised location often provided some great tension and relationship development (especially between Misty, Luke and Claire), the pacing was slow for such a high stakes situation. The writing in this episode was also particularly bad, with little nuance or subtly and drawn out exposition. Diamondback’s monologue regarding his history with Luke also was ineffective because as an audience, we cannot relate to these characters and with little development of how Luke and Willis were friends, there is not emotional weight or gravitas to Diamondback’s motivations. ¬†Ultimately the character feels familiar and broadly developed meaning without Mariah around to provide a compelling, unique villain, ‘Luke Cage’ is losing its significance. 6.7/10
