Verdict: Luke Cage Season 1 Episode 9 “DWYCK”

The cliffhanger endings are becoming slightly repetitive and Luke Cage seems to be continuously taking a back seat in his own show, but luckily in this episode, the three female characters given the lead to all deliver powerful sequences and stances. Misty’s interview is incredibly well written and in conjunction with the timely imagery of the police car camera, highlights the shows clear understanding of the perspective on police in America. Balancing this sort of racial politics with Misty’s character development is impressive, and considering the strong focus on Mariah and Claire, three different portrayals of the female ability are presented. Diamondback also makes a better impression in this episode, emerging outside of just being a brutal fighter but into a character with his own aspirations and plans. 9/10
