Verdict: Mr. Robot Season 2 Episode 11 “eps2.9_pyth0n-pt1.p7z”

I applaud Sam Esmail for this episode’s stylistic presentation of key themes, however, ultimately it feels like the writer has little grasp over where he wants this show to go. The convoluted portrayals of time, reality and perspectives throughout this episode surely have meaning but it simply becomes too philosophical and pretentious as if the show is continuously looking for ways to trick the audience into thinking it has a greater purpose. While this reflects Elliot’s uncertainty about his role as well as the facades of business and politics, TV cannot be compelling if the audience is constantly being redirected. Just because something seems intelligent, doesn’t mean it knows what it is talking about. In saying that, I am still incredibly intrigued by what is happening and the episodes concluding reveal, I just wish the show would choose an angle and stick with it. 7.2/10
