Review: Stranger Things Season 1 Episode 6 “Chapter Six: The Monster”

Though still riddled with a number of clichéd and predictable sequences and character decisions from Terry’s disability to the conflict between Mike and the bullies, Stranger Things thrives when it focusses on its science fiction aspects, from the beautifully directed, memorizing opening to the incredibly intriguing and well visualised back story to Eleven, while Winona Ryder is actually given something to do and performs fine enough and the commentary on teenage paranoia seems fresh and interesting, however, the love triangle between Nancy, Jonathon and Steve is unnecessary and only distracts from their purpose, serving as filler. 8.7/10
