Review: High-Rise

Source: The Telegraph

A modern-day epic, “High Rise” sees a masterful Ben Wheatley challenge the class system in a visually striking and disturbing manner, branding its message into the mind of the viewer while retaining a stylish level of sophistication through its decadent choice of music, costuming and design while the perfected (and surprisingly humourous) writing examines the differing personas amongst it all, and even though its exuberance may not feel fully earned due to some sections of the film’s discussion of societal downfall being brushed over and the film doesn’t always answer every question, the riveting suspense and eerie, haunting portrayal of humanity, makes this a must see film. 4.5/5
